DARK FANTASY · SCIENCE FANTASY · SHARED UNIVERSE

The universe behind the stories

The Earthsoul Saga is designed as a shared universe of interconnected series. Different characters, eras, worlds and civilisations explore the same fundamental questions from changing perspectives.

The first narrative cycle begins on present-day Earth with They Call us Angels. From there, the scale expands through myth and hidden orders to other worlds and eventually into cosmic and science fantasy.

Glimpses into the world

What does trust mean in a world where even higher powers pursue their own interests? These three glimpses introduce what shapes the Earthsoul Saga – from its conflicts and supernatural forces to one of its settings.

Spoiler warning: The sections below reveal background details about the world, its powers and a setting from They Call us Angels. They are closed by default. Open only the topics you would like to explore before reading. Go straight to the book without opening these sections.

Mild worldbuilding spoilers · Angels and demons

Power beyond simple morality. In They Call us Angels, angels and demons are not reliable embodiments of good and evil. They act within established orders, pursue their own goals and carry the consequences of earlier choices. Duty, loyalty and compassion can clash – even among beings who claim to serve a higher power.

Belonging to one side does not make an action just. A promise of protection can restrict freedom. Someone regarded as an enemy can become an ally. What matters is not simply what a being is called, but how they treat others and use their power.

Spoilers about the world’s rules · Essence

What life leaves behind. In the Earthsoul Saga, all life produces essence – a metaphysical by-product comparable to heat. Intense feelings, experiences and perceptions generate more of it. Essence is the resource angels and demons use to wield their powers.

For simple uses, what their human bodies produce and store is often enough. More powerful effects require additional reserves. Where people gather and experience life intensely, essence can be collected and concentrated. Such a place is more than a backdrop: it can become a source of extraordinary power.

Setting spoilers · Sinful Heaven

Freedom behind closed doors. Silk, subdued light and intense encounters shape Sinful Heaven. For its host, Ren, free choice comes first: no judgement, no pressure. His club is a place for desire and connection – and a refuge whose protection extends across the usual divide between angel and demon.

The guests‘ experiences also have an unseen dimension. Their emotions and encounters produce essence, which is gathered and stored within the club. Ren can draw on these reserves for powerful effects. The atmosphere of the place, its rules and its supernatural significance are closely connected.

Several series · one universe

They Call us Angels opens the saga as dark urban fantasy set in the present day. Further series are planned within the same universe, broadening the perspective to other characters, worlds and civilisations – and into cosmic and science fantasy.

Many worlds. Different answers.

The Earthsoul Saga is not confined to Earth. Its worlds explore different answers to questions of soul, consciousness, freedom and power. Their individual secrets remain within the stories. Your starting point is They Call us Angels – no prior knowledge required.

They Call us Witches

Angels and demons were never the only ones who possessed power.

They Call us Witches is a parallel novel unfolding alongside They Call us Angels. It reveals the same hidden world from a new human perspective and expands the first narrative cycle without simply functioning as its next numbered volume.

At its center is Athena — a neuroscientist whose research takes her beyond the boundaries of everything she thought she understood about humanity and reality.

What she discovers does more than challenge existing beliefs. It could change the balance of power between humans, angels, and demons forever.
